MR. TOPLEY SAID MR. ALEX WU AND MISS BENNETT HAD BOTH MADE STRONG PLEAS FOR MORE EMPHASIS ON THE CULTURAL SUBJECTS IN SCHOOLS, PARTICULARLY FOR MUSIC.

+1 CAN ASSURE THEM THAT SCHOOLS WILL CONTINUE TO BE GIVEN EVERY ENCOURAGEMENT TO GIVE THE CULTURAL SUBJECTS THE IR DUE PLACES, HE SAID, +MUSIC IS ALREADY ENCOURAGED AS A GENERAL SUBJECT AND IS BEING INCLUDED IN THE RECOMMENDED FORM 4 TO 5 CURRICULUM FOR ALL STUDENTS. ART AND DESIGN WILL ALSO BE MORE WIDELY OFFERED. THE NEW INSTRUMENTAL YUSIC SCHEME IS CERTAIN TO CREATE WIDER INTEREST AND PARTICIPATION IN MUSIC.

COMMENTING ON MR. ALEX WU'S SUGGESTION THAT CHINESE TRADITION MADE IT POSSIBLE TO INTRODUCE MORAL TRAINING AS A SPECIFIC SUBJECT INTO SCHOOL TIME-TABLE, MR. TOPLEY SAID, +THIS VIEW IS RESPECTED AND PROVISION HAS BEEN MADE FOR THE INCLUSION OF RELIGIOUS/ETHICAL TEACHING IN THE NEW FORM 4 TO 5 CURRICULUM. MORAL ISSUES ARE ALSO INTRODUCED INTO GENERAL SUBJECTS.
