PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SETS UP COMPLAINTS OFFICE

THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT IT HAS SET UP AN OFFICE AT ITS HEADQUARTERS IN MURRAY BUILDING TO DEAL WITH COMPLAINTS FROM MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.
THE COMPLAINTS OFFICE WILL START TAKING CALLS FROM MONDAY FEBRUARY 27) AND WILL OPERATE DURING NORMAL WORKING HOURS 9 A.M. TO 5 P.M. ON WEEKDAYS AND 9 A.M. TO NOON ON SATURDAYS.)
TWO SPECIAL DIRECT TELEPHONE LINES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED TO FROVIDE THIS SERVICE. THE NUMBERS ARE:
5-244744 FOR ENGLISH SPEAKING MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC, AND, 5-221616 FOR CHINESE SPEAKING MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC.
THE OFFICER WHO WILL HANDLE COMPLAINTS IS A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER, MR. JOHN DODWELL, WHO HAS HAD WIDE WORKING EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT.
A DEPARTMENTAL SPOKESMAN SAID THE CENTRALISED COMPLAINTS OFFICE WAS TO HELP MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC WITH PROBLEMS CONNECTED WITH THE WORK OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WHICH AFFECTED THEIR DAILY LIVES.
+HITHERTO PEOPLE WITH COMPLAINTS HAD TO CALL DIFFERENT 'IUMBERS DEPENDING ON THE NATURE OF THE IR PROBLEM. SOMETIMES THEY WOULD GET THE WRONG OFFICE AND THIS ONLY ADDED TO THEIR DISSATISFACTION.
+NOW, HOWEVER, THERE WILL BE A SINGLE SOURCE TO WHICH THEY CAN TAKE THEIR COMPLAINTS AND HAVE THEM DEALT WITH QUICKLY, HE SAID.
