WORK SET TO START ON STAGE II

DEVELOPMENT OF TUI MIN HOI

Government will soon embark on another stage of a massive developmen

programme for the Tui Min Hoi area of Sai Kung to develop the area into a

self-contained rural township.

Engineering works will start later this year on land formation and

reclamation to provide more sites for new housing, improved road access and

recreational and community facilities.

At present, work is well underway on the first stage of development

which includes the construction of a main access road leading from Hiram's

Highway into the development area, and the formation of sites for a rural

public housing estate and a fishermen's housing estate.

The second stage will involve the provision of sites for an

extension of the main access road along the foreshore, a sewage treatment

plant, an abattoir, a sand depot, and a marine fueling station and an ice

storage plant to meet the needs of Sai Kung's large fishing community.

Eighty-six sites will be created in the area for New Territories
