He pointed out that staff of the Urban Services Department
immediately coated recorded fish with chloride of lime to prevent any
possibility of the stock being re-cycled in local markets.
The Urban Services Department was disposing of the dead fish by
incineration and burial at Gin Drinkers Bay every day, he added.
Mr. Todd also said that a representative of one group of Picnic
Bay fish farmers had already approached the Legal aid Department.
QUEEN HONOURS POSTMAN
The Queen has awarded the Imperial Service Medal to Mr. Mak Sze-keung,
a Postman, in recognition of his 38 years' of distinguished service with the
Post Office.
Mr. Mak, 55, the longest-serving Post Office staff, joined the
department in 1939 as a labourer. He was promoted to Postman III in 1940
and then to Postman. For the most part of his career, he was engaged in
sorting duties.
At a brief ceremony yesterday (Thursday), the Postmaster General,
Mr. D. Bamford, handed Mr. Mak a letter from the Governor informing him about
the award.
Mr. Bamford noted that the award is not only a great honour for
Mr. Mak but also for the Post Office, because it is the first time a staff
member of the department has been awarded the Medal.
Commenting on the award, Mr. Mak said that he was thrilled by it.
"I owe it all to my colleagues who really made this possible,"
Mr. Mak is due to retire early next month and is now on pre-
retirement leave.
