CLOTHING INDUSTRY MANPOWER SURVEY
A manpower survey of Hong Kong's clothing industry will he conducted
from October 10 to 31 to collect up-to-date information on training requirements
of the industry.
The survey is the fourth in the series to be conducted by the Clothing
Industry Training Board of the Hong Kong Training Council, with the assistance
of the Labour Department and the Census and Statistics Department.
Questionnaires and explanatory letters have been sent to all selected
clothing mills,
Officers of the Census and Statistics Department will call at each
of these mills during the survey period to help complete and to collect the
questionnaires.
The information which employers are requested to supply includes the
number of workers at present employed or under training, the number of existing
vacancies and a forecast of additional workers required in the next 12 months.
Mr. Francis Tien, Chairman of the Clothing Industry Training Board,
stressed: "The information collected will be handled in strict confidence
and will be published only in the form of statistical summaries without referense
to any individual mill.
"As the information to be collected from this survey is of vital
importance for formulating meaningful training plans for the benefit of the
industry, co-operation of those covered in the survey is sincerely solicited,"
