Hong Kong's top housing officials today gave a detailed briefing
on public housing to the Governor, Sir Murray MacLehose, at the Housing
Authority Headquarters.
ذاهب
Sir Murray, who has always shown great interest in public housing,
was brought up to date on the current building programme, and other aspects
of public housing.
The Chairman of the Housing Authority, Mr I. M. Lightbody, who is
also the Secretary for Housing and the Director of Housing, Mr Donald Liao, greeted the Governor on arrival and escorted him to the Authority's conference
room for the briefing.
Points covered included the impressive growth-rate of public
housing, rising expenditure on the huge public housing programme,
the large
number of estates under construction and contracts to be let in the coming
financial year, mechanised building methods being used to speed up the housing
programme, and the highly favourable level of rents charged for public housing
compared with much higher rents for similar accommodation in the private
sector.
