ABERDEEN CLEAREES SAY THANK-YOU TO HOUSING DEPARTMENT STAFF ¿

appreciated by the people concerned the elegeer.
However, there are exceptions."
At a brief ceremony held at Housing Department Headquarters today (Tuesday), Officers of the Clearance Section were presented a banner and a shield by representat ives of boatyard operators who were cleared recently from Aberdeen to facilitate reclamation work in the area.
The banner carries the words "Good Relations Between the Government and
the People" and the shield is inscribed with the characters "Deeply Concerned with the Hardships of the People".
The representatives, Mr Choi Hang, Mr Chan Shu and Mr Shiu Wo Ping,
said they were thankful to the clearance staff for making satisfactory arrangements
before the clearance.
"The clearance staff showed a high degree of patience and concerni throughout," they said.
Mr. Chiu Shing, Senier Housing Manager, Clearance, who received the
memontos, thanked the representatives on behalf of his colleagues and said that
the clearance could not have been carried out so smoothly without their understanding
and co-operation.
The clearance in Aberdeen, involving, 19 boat yards, five workshops two shops and nine families, was completed a week ago.
The families have either been offered public housing or temporary housing
in licensed areas and the boat builders and shop and workshop operators were offered
compensation totalling $1,070,331.
