CASH HANDOUTS TO CHEUNG SHA WAN SQUATTER FIRE VICTIMS
FAMILIES RECEIVE AT LEAST $1,350 EACH
Cash grants from the Emergency Relief Fund are being distributed„ to the 300 families who lost their homes in last week's squatter fire at
Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon.

Payments totalling $372,050 have been made to 227 families so far
1. to enable them to meet the expenses of re-establishing their homes in temporary
housing in licensed areas.
Families of five or under are receiving $1,250 for re-accommodation and $100 per head for re-equipment. For families of more than five, each additional member gets an extra $250 for re-accommodation.
Housing Department staff are making daily payouts at the temporary transit centre set up at the Sham Shui Po Army Camp and arranging transport
to take the victims to either Yau Ma Hom or Shek Lei Licensed Areas for site
allocation.
This will continue until all victims have been given their cash grants and temporarily housed in licensed areas.
