MR. AU POINTED OUT THAT A LOT OF CARE MUST BE TAKEN WHILE PLANNING THESE CHECK FLIGHTS TO AVOID DISRUPTING REGULAR AIR TRAFFIC.
+OUR NAVIGATION AIDS ARE SCATTERED ALL OVER THE AIRPORT, KOWLOON TSAI, MOUNT KELLET, CHEK KOK, TSING YI, TUNG LUNG ISLAND, CHEUNG CHAU, STONECUTTER'S ISLAND AND CAPE D'AGUILAR, AND BETWEEN THEM THEY PROVIDE ALL-WEATHER GUIDANCE TO ALL AIRCRAFT WITHIN SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES OF HONG KONG.
+A ROUTINE CHECK OF ALL THESE FACILITIES TAKES AN AVERAGE OF 20 HOURS' FLYING TIME, SPACED OUT OVER A PERIOD OF THREE OR FOUR DAYS,+ HE SAID.
MR. AU ADDED THAT THE PRESENT HIGH LEVEL OF AIR SAFETY HAS BEEN ATTAINED MAINLY BECAUSE OF THE ESTABLISHMENT AND MAINTENANCE OF HIGH STANDARDS FOR AIR NAVIGATION FACILITIES.

A VAST MAJORITY OF THE REPORTS RECEIVED FROM THE FAA AFTER
THE FLIGHT TESTS SHOW OUR NAVIGATION AIDS GIVE EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE HE SAID.
