"We took only one and a half days to complete the job which we
originally planned for two days," he said.
He thanked the residents involved for their co-operation and the
understanding they displayed.
The clearance, started yesterday, is to make available a site for
the construetion of Shing On Estate which eventually will house 40,900 people

on completion.
The Housing Department has rehoused 672 squatters from 155 families
to Lai King and Kwai Shing estates and offered another 166 people from 41
families licensed area accommodation at Yau Ma Hom and Ha Kwai Chung.
Over $861,000 has also been paid to various commercial, industrial
and agricultural undertakings affected by the clearance.
