REDEVELOPMENT OF CHAI WAN (WEST) ESTATE

Chai Wan (West) Estate is to be redeveloped and details of the redevelopment programme will be announced. by Dr. E.G. Pryor, Assistant
Director, Housing Department, tomorrow (Monday).
Representatives from the news media are cordially invited to
attend a press conference in the Chai Wan (West) Estate office on the
ground floor of Block 4 at 2.30 p.m.
This estate, built between 1959 and 1963, comprises four Mark I
blocks and eight Mark II blocks. It houses about 27,000 people.
The Housing Authority's redevelopment programme is aimed at
improving the environment of tenants who are presently living in congested
conditions and sharing communal facilities in the earliest public housing
estates. A head start has already been made at Shek Kip Mei and Tai Hang Tung estates.
