PARKING STANDARD IN DENSITY ZONE || AREAS

THE BASIS ON WHICH DEVELOPERS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PARKING SPACES IN CERTAIN AREAS HAS BEEN CHANGED TO PROVIDE MORE FLEXIBILITY.

A SPOKESMAN FOR THE CROWN LANDS AND SURVEY OFFICE, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, SAID TODAY THAT FROM NOW ON THE NUMBER OF PARKING SPACES THE DEVELOPERS WAS OBLIGED TO PROVIDE UNDER THE LEASE OF CERTAIN LOTS WOULD BE BASED ON A RATIO OF ONE TO ONE-AND-A-HALF SPACE PER FLAT, OR PER 1,200 SQ.FT. OF GROSS FLOOR AREA, WHICHEVER WAS LESS.

THE NEW RATIO, SET BY THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL, APPLIES TO AREAS DESIGNATED AS DENSITY ZONE || AREAS, WHICH INCLUDE SUBURBAN AREAS COMPRISING THE MID-LEVELS ON THE ISLAND, AND AREAS ALONG PRINCE EDWARD ROAD, WATERLOO ROAD, ARGYLE STREET, BOUNDARY STREET, AND BROADCAST DRIVE IN KOWLOON,

PREVIOUSLY, THE PARKING REQUIREMENT RATIO FOR THESE AREAS WAS ONE-AND-A-HALF SPACE PER FLAT. ·

THE SPOKESMAN EXPLAINED THAT THE PARKING REQUIREMENT WAS ONE OF THE CONDITIONS STIPULATED IN THE LEASE OF CROWN LAND SOLD IN DENSITY ZONE 11 AREAS.

+SITES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SOLD WITH GREATER PARKING REQUIREMENTS,+ HE SAID, +MAY BE MODIFIED TO THE PRESENT STANDARD SUBJECT TO SÚCH TERMS ÁS MAY BE IMPOSED BY THE GOVERNMENT, INCLUDING THE PAYMENT OF A PREMIUM.+

MAPS OUTLINING THE DENSITY ZONE 11 AREAS MAY BE INSPECTED AT THE CROWN LANDS AND SURVEY OFFICE ON THE 18TH FLOOR OF MORRAY BUILDING, HONG KONG, AND ON THE 10TH FLOOR OF KOWLOON GOVERNMENT OFFICES, NATHAN ROAD.
