TEMPORARY REMOVAL OF ESTATE CANOPIES
TO FACILITATE MTR CONSTRUCTION
The construction of the Mass Transit Railway Station at Wong Tai
Sin is to begin shortly and to facilitate the work, projections from five
blocks in Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate facing Lung Cheung Road may be required
to be removed on a temporary basis.
The blocks affected are Nos. 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. The removal of
part or whole of the canopies projecting from the balconies, if necessary,
will take place in coming December or early next year.
Apart from this, the existing water mains and other public
utilities in the vicinity may also have to be diverted.
In a letter to the affected tenants, the Housing Department sought
their cooperation and assured them that the removed canopies would be
permitted to be re-erected as soon as circumstances permit.
The department will also meet the cost of re-erecting them.
Letters listing the full details will be sent to the affected
tenants separately as soon as a detailed work programme is available.
