ADDITIONAL TERMINAL FACILITIES AT AIRPORT

A FURTHER EXTENSION OF THE EXISTING AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING VILL SHORTLY COME INTO USE WITH THE COMPLETION OF NEW PIERS RUNNING ALONG THE AIRSIDE FRONTACE AT THE FIRST FLOOR (DEPARTURED LEVEL.
ASSOCIATED WITH THIS DEVELOPMENT ARE THREE TRANSFER VEHICLE DOCKS AND FOUR AIRBRIDGES SERVING DAYS 3 AND 4.
THIS ADDITIONAL ACCOMMODATION AND THE 11PROVED PROCEDURES WHICH WILL CORRESPONDINGLY BE INTRODUCED WILL ENACLE AIRLINES TO CONVEY PASSENGERS TO AND FROM THEIR AIRCRAFT HORE EASILY AND AT A FASTER RATE THAN BEFORE, IN A GREATER DEGREE OF COMFORT.
EXCEPT FOR A SMALL SECTION AT THE EASTERN END OF THE TERMINAL, CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW PIERS IS COMPLETE AND THEY WILL DE COMMISSIONED ON AUGUST 7. TOGETHER WITH TUO OF THE TRANSHER VEHICLE DOCKS AND THE AIRBRIDGES SERVING BAY 3.
THE REMAINDER OF THIS DEVELOPMENT CONSISTING OF THE THIRD TRANSHER VEHICLE DOCK AND THE AIRCRIDGES ON BAY 4 ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN USE BY THE END OF THE MONTH.
THE TRANSFER VEHICLE DOCKS ARE LOCATED ON THE SOUTH. (APRON SIDE OF THE PIER BETWEEN AIRCRAFT PARKED ON THE INNER STANDS.
EACH UNIT PROVIDES PARKING FACILITIES FOR UP TO THREE DOUBLE-ENDED BUSES WHICH HAVE BEEN SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR THIS TYPE OF OPERATION, AND ALSO INCLUDES FOUR PASSENGER +GATE+ POSITIONS, TWO FOR ARRIVALS AND TUO FOR DEPARTURES.
REVERSIBLE ESCALATORS ARE USED TO CARRY PASSENGERS BETWEEN THE APRON AND THE PASSENGER HANDLING LEVELS OF THE TERMILAL.
WHILST THE TRANSFER VEHICLE FACILITIES CATER FOR PASSENGERS PROCEEDING TO AND FROM AIRCRAFT ON THE OUTER PARKING BAYS. THE AIRBRIDGES PROVIDE DIRECT ACCESS FROM THE DEPARTURE LEVEL PIER TO AIRCRAFT PARKED ON THE INNER STANDS.
THESE STANDS ARE PRIMARILY INTENDED FOR USE BY BOEING 747 AND OTHER WIDE-BODIED AIRCRAFT WHICH TOTAL 166 MOVEMENTS PER WEEK AT THE PRESENT TIME.
