In addition, apart from expensive maintenance, the Director

of Public Works had advised that there is a danger of structural failure

of the building, particularly in typhoons or while engineering works

are proceeding in the area.

Mr. Robson said Government had come to the reluctant conclusion

that "mless any private benefactor cones forward with a suitable scheme

and site for its reconstruction, Murray House will have to be demolished

as soon as practicable in order not to impede the development of the

New Supreme Court Building."
