GOVERNMENT HOUSE CUTS ELECTRICITY BY 67 PER CENT
The example set by the Governor and Lady MacLehose, in economising
on the use of fuel, has led to a 67 per cent reduction in electricity for
Government House since the start of the current economy drive.
The latest figures show that the 47 per cent reduction achieved
in November was improved by a further 20 per cent last month.
Government House's petrol consumption also showed a further drop
last month, adding another eight per cent reduction to the 34 per cent
saved the previous month.
The Governor's launch, the Lady Maurine, has been retired froz
service for the duration of the fuel crisis and will only be tried out onco
a month to keep the engines operational.
PRISONS HEADQUARTERS TO MOVE
The Prisons Departrent Headquarters will move from Arbuthnot Road
to new premises at Murray Road as from February 8.
It will occupy the 10th floor of Murray Road Multi-Storey Car Park
