PAI HANG CLEARANCE DEFERRED

The Housing Department has decided to postpone the clearance of
some 210 structures at the Tai Kang Sai Cottage Area so that residents
will be able to remain there until after the Lunar New Year if they
wish.
A notice was sent out this (Monday) afternoon to the residents
informing them that the clearance would now be carried out on February
26 and 27, 1974.
A spokesman for the Housing Department said the decision to
postpone the clearance was made at the request of many of the residents.
"They had on many occasions come to us to see whether it was
possible for them to remain there until after the Lunar New Year,"
he said.
"The decision takes now will enable them to make their removal
plan well after the Lunar New Year."
The Tai Hang Sai Cottage Clearance will affect some 300 families
comprising about 1,700 people.

They have been offered public housing units at Upper Pak Tin
lore than 250 families lave already taken up their tenancy and
some of them have already moved to their new homes.
The site will be used for the first stage of the Tai Hang Tung
Estate redevelopment schiene.
