of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Psychiatric Association.
lecture is made possible by a memorial fund set up jointly by the two

He passed away in November, 1971, while attending the World Pay-

An eminent psychiatrist, he was one of the earliest pioneers in mental health in Hong Kong, and until 1969, was the senior psychiatric
specialist in charge of the Medical and Health Department's mental health
service.
In 1969, he left for Canada to take up a professorial appoint-

holding at the time of his death.
Professor Yap's many articles on psychiatry published in his
lifetime in journals in Hong Kong and abroad remain as permanent tributes
to his memory.
