Mr. Canning pointed out that at present he did not have sufficient

resources to be able to offer full-time training of teachers for mentally handicapped children. But he stressed that "full-time training is our aim and

courses will be established as soon as resources permit.

On the provision of scholarships and study leave for technical teachers,

the Director said that 13 of them were sent overseas for professional training

and attachments during the period 1971-73. Six more were expected to go in

1973-74.

Since September 1969 when the Morrison Hill Technical Institute's Technical Teachers Training Department was first established, 556 technical teachers had been trained or were undergoing training.
