It is hoped that with the experience and insight that can be
gained from the operation of the Tsuen Wan Public Library, the Government
will be able to assess better the needs of the people for the development
of public libraries in the New Territories.
A working party comprising representatives of the Director of
Urban Services; the District Commissioner, New Territories; the Director
of Education and the Director of Social Welfare, has been set up to
examine the needs for library facilities in the New Territories and to
submit recommendations to the Government.
SUSPENSION OF WANCHAI FERRY PIER CARPARK
Metered parking at the Wanchai Ferry Pier car park will be
suspended from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday (December 7) for the opening
ceremony of the 30th Exhibition of Hong Kong Products at the Wanchai
reclamation.
However, a spokesman for the Transport Department said that
part of the car park would be re-opened afterwards.
The spokesman stressed that parking facilities for private
cars would be limited and he advised motorists to use public transport.
There would be special bus services to the fair ground, he added.
