SELECTION PROCEDURES FOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS UNDER REVIEW

The selection procedures for Administrative Officers are now under a

thorough review with the co-operation of the University authorities to make the

necessary adjustments before direct University recruitment takes place next year.

The Acting Colonial Secretary, the Hon. S.T. Kidd, told the Legislative

Council this today in reply to a question by the Hon. Wilson Wang.

He said that 250 applications, including 114 from final-year University

students, were received for the post of Administrative Officer in November, 1971.

Only 14 final-year students passed the written examinations and were invited

for interviews, but none were found suitable for appointment.

is a First or Second Class Honours degree from a Hong Kong or British university,

or its equivalent.

SIR HUGH SENDS MESSAGE OF SYMPATHY

The Acting Governor, Sir Hugh Norman-Walker has sent a message of

sympathy to the Queen on the death of Prince William of Gloucester.
