During July 21-25, Typhoon Rita was moving in a loop over the

East China Sea to the west of the Ryukyu Islands with an associated

trough extending to south China. The trough passed through Hong Kong

on July 24-25, causing heavy showers and thunderstorms and altogether five

thunderstorm warnings were issued by the Royal Observatory on these

two days.

For the remainder of the month, the weather was mainly cloudy with

some showers. There were also periods of rain on July 31.

No aircraft were diverted due to adverse weather conditions

during the month.
