PROPER LANDING FACILITIES FOR SAI KUNG
The Government plans to build a pier at Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung, to
provide proper landing facilities for all types of craft.
The pier is designed to cope with the number of people expected to
use it on holidays and at weekends, particularly in the summer months.
With the introduction of legislation requiring employers to give their
staff four days off a month, the number of people visiting the countryside has
increased and the need for proper landing facilities has become more acute.
The estimated cost of the pier is $1 million. Work is expected to
start at the end of this year and will take about 12 months to complete.
The pier head will be sited in deep water to allow the berthing of
large launches, including police boats. The width of the approach catwalk
will be 20 feet.
