"Only after 16 months discussion, when the matter had already been

over long delayed, did Government reach the conclusion that no compromise

appeared possible; and it then arranged for independent advice to be obtained,"

the spokesman said.

He continued that some members of the Salaries Commission have now

been invited to reassemble and that their response to the invitations was

awaited.

"When they reassemble, arrangements will be made for Certificated Masters

in the aided sector to make representations to them," the spokesman concluded.
