YOUTH CENTRE FOR CHEUNG CHAU
Cheung Chau will soon have a youth centre for launching various
cultural and recreational activities for the young people on the island.
It will be built on a site overlooking the popular Tung Wan
beach on the eastern side of the island.
The two-storey building will house offices, bathrooms and a
canteen on the ground floor and a multi-purpose hall on the first floor.
Surrounding the main building will be a skating rink and several basketball
courts.
Besides catering to youths on the island, the facilities will be
made available to visiting youth groups.
Work on the project is expected to begin next month and take
eight months to complete. The cost of the centre is being met by the
Rural Committee of Cheung Chau and a grant of some $250,000 from the
Lotteries Fund.
