Tyco is the first industrial establishment in Hong Kong which
has been given special permission to employ women and young persons on
a five-day week. These workers are working only 45 hours in a week.
"I am visiting the factory in order to gain first-hand knowledge
of the reaction to the new system from the workers in the establishment,
said Mr. Lin,
The factory, which occupies the whole of the Rida Industrial
Building in Kwai Chung, employs a workforce of over 600, and manufactures
metal and plastic toy race-cars and tracks.
