Socioty appealed to the Army Modical Services for halp in the oroction of
a tontod hospital at Gonabad, in Iran. Warrant Officer Smith agrood to
undertako the task and was porsonally rosponsible for tho siting and
oroction of a 300-boddod fiold hospital. His choorful, friendly and
rosourcoful personality ensured the success of the antorprise in the facu
of difficulties of language and deficient equipment, and ho greatly onhanced
the reputation of the British forcos in Iran.
