Council and a Member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority from April, 1957
to March, 1962. An Assistant Commissioner in the Civil Aid Services, he is
a Member of the Brewin Trust Fund Committee, Member of the Chinese Recreation
Ground and Yau Ma Tei Public Square Management Committee, Member of the
Narcotics Advisory Committee, Member of the Po Leung Kuk Permanent Board of
Direction, Member of the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Committee, and Member
of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee. He was made an Officer of the
Order of the British Empire (0.8.E.) in the 1959 Birthday Honours.
He has been a member of the Legislative Council since 1961 and of
the Executive Council since 1966. He was appointed a member of the Advisory
Committee of Public Transport when the Committee was first formed in 1961
and served as a Chairman from 1963 to 1965, continuing for one year as
Chairman of the Transport Advisory Committee formed to replace the previous
committee.

Mr. Alfred George Crook
Mr. Crook joined the British Post Office in 1929. He was a Captain
of the Royal Signals Corps from 1942 to 1947. In 1950 he was appointed
Assistant Controller of Posts in Malaya and threo years later he became
Controller of Posts in Hong Kong. He was promoted to Postmaster General in
1958.

Mr. Joseph Paul Hewitt
Mr. Hewitt retired as a Director of Marine early this year.
He came
to Hong Kong as a Surveyor of Ships in July 1947. Seven years later he was
promoted to the post of Senior Surveyor of Ships before he became Director
of Marine in May 1961.
