Temples Committee and a Member of the General Chinese Charities Fund Committee,
Member of the 1959 Salaries Commission, Member of the Law Reform Committee for
a term up to June 30, 1962, Member of the Committee for Jurors' List for 1960,
a Member of the Committee of Management for the Chinese Recreation Ground and
Yau Ma Tei Public Square, and a Member of the Standing Committee on Corruption
since July 5, 1960. He was Chairman of the Preparatory Committee to consider
and advise Government on the steps to be taken for the provision of sites and
buildings for the Chinese University. He was Chairman of the Provisional
Council of the Chinese University and also of the Selection Committee to
advise on the selection of a Vice-Chancellor of the University. He is now
the Chairman of the Council of the Chinese University. He was awarded the
Civil Defence Long Service Medal in December, 1963.
The Hon. Y.K. Kan, 0.B.E.
The Hon. Y.K. Kan, a solicitor and principal of the legal firm of
Messrs. Lo & Lo, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of East
Asia, Ltd. He has been an Unofficial Justice of the Peace since 1949. A
Past Chairman of the Law Society of Hong Kong, he was a Member of the Urban
Council and a Member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority from April, 1957 to
March, 1962. An Assistant Commissioner in the Civil Aid Services, he is also
the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Public Transport, Member of the
Brewin Trust Fund Committee, Member of the Chinese Recreation Ground and
Yau Ma Tei Public Square Management Committee, Member of the Narcotics
Advisory Committee, Member of the Po Leung Kuk Permanent Board of Direction,
Member of the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Committee, and Member of the Social
/Welfare
