was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (0.B.E.) in the 1962

New Year Honours and has been an Official Justice of the Peace since 1947.

He is one of the most senior Chinese members of the Civil Service. He was

appointed Chinese Medical Officer in January, 1939. In May of the same year

he was appointed Assistant Port Health Officer. After the Japanese

occupation, he escaped to China and served with the Chinese Government in

liaison with the British Aray Aid Group. In August, 1945 he was appointed

Health Officer (Anti-epidemic) and was made Senior Health Officer in December,

1954. He became Assistant Director of Health Services in October, 1959. He

acted as Director of Medical and Health Services in 1960/61 and was appointed

Director of Medical and Health Services in September, 1963. He is a member

of the World Health Organisation's Expert Committee on International

Quarantine and has been Professor of Preventive Medicine at the University

of Hong Kong since 1957. He was Vice-Chairman of the Urban Council

from March, 1955 to July, 1958 and also from May, 1961 to September, 1963.

He is a Member of the Board of Review Long Term

Prison Sentences, President of the Dental Council of Hong Kong, Chairman of

the Hong Kong Examination Board for the Royal Society of Health, Chairman of

the Medical Advisory Board, Chairman of the Medical Council of Hong Kong,

Chairman of the Midwives Board, Chairman of the Nursing Board, Chairman of

the Pharmacy Board, Chairman of the Radiation Board, Member of the Social

Work Training Fund Committee, and a Member of the Senate of the University

of Hong Kong.

Mr. Willian David Gregg is Director of Education, Hong Kong. He

was educated at Wolverhampton Grammar School and St. Catherine's College,

Cambridge University. He graduated in 1934 and became a schoolmaster. In

1939 he joined the City of Birmingham Education Department as an Administrativo
