Reports that Lieutenant-Colonel A. M. Davies has proceeded to Malta to assist in investigation in the place of Dr. R. W. Johnstone.

Acknowledges receipt of No. 113, and i concurs in the charge against the department of one-third of the expense in connection with the pro- poseil grant of £10 a month to Dr. Scicluna.

Suggests, in reply to No. 113 that any expense arising in consequence of niembers of the Fever Enquiry Com- mission being detached from their ordinary duties should be borne by the department concerned.

Submits, for favourable consideration, claim of Major Horrocks for the refund of passage money,

Transmits copy of No. 116, and concurs in the view of the Admiralty that the whole of Dr. Scicluna's additional remuneration should be charged to Malta funds.

Reports discovery. by the Commission in Malta that the virus of the fever exists abundantly in the milk and urine of goats which supply the island with milk; suggests that the island authorities should at once be warned to be on their guard, but deprecates immediate restrictive action.

Authorizes payment from Malta funds . of £47 58. 8d. to Colonel Bruce; transmits copy of No. 122, and authorises the repayment desired by the Governor.
