States that medical authorities have expressed the opinion that the pro- posals in No. 52 are impracticable, and efforts are being made to discover remedial rather than preventive measures, meanwhile the expense of increasing the British Central Africa medical staff as proposed in No. 57, cannot be justified.
Requests the conveyance to Dr. Power of an expression of thanks for his valuable memorandum forwarded in No. 61.
Expresses, in reply to Nos. 52 and 60, appreciation of the interest taken by the School, but states that the pro- porals submitted are considered, under existing conditions, to be impracticable.
Transmits copies of correspondence; states that the Commissioner will no doubt consider whether it is practi- cable and advisable to try, on a small scale, the scheme proposed to prevent the spread of the disease,

Acknowledges receipt of No. 74, and expresses satisfaction at the stops outlined in No. 72: considers that the rapid increase of the disease is due to the importation of infected persons, and that it is unnecessary to send a medical officer to Uganda to study the disease; requesta informa- tion on the points specified.
Accepts offer to send out two experts to study the local conditions, and suggest precautionary measures, and states that a recommendation will be made to the Treasury for free passages, transport, and quarters, and a sub- sistence allowance not exceeding 10s. a day.
