An Act to continue the "Chinese Immigration Restriction Act, 1888,"
··[Assented to, December 19th, 1891.] Whereas it is desirable to continue the operation of the "Chinese Immigration Restriction Act, 1888" Be it therefore enacted by the Governor of the Province of South Australia, with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the said province, in this present Parliament assembled, as follows':
1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained in section 18 of the said of 1888 to Chinese Immigration Restriction Act, 1888," and section 1 of the Act No. 494 of 1890, to further amend the "Chinese Immigration Restriction Act, 1888 the said Chinese Immigration Restriction Act, 1888," except as hereby altered, shall continue in full force and operation until altered or repealed.

2. None of the provisions of the:" Chinese Immigration Act of 1888 shall apply to any Chinese who have been, before the first day of October, one thousand naturalised eight hundred and ninety-one, naturalised as British subjects in South Australia, or in any other Australasian colony which may afford similar privileges to Chinese naturalised in South Australia or to the wife of any such Chinese.

6. This Act shall not apply, nor shall the "Chinese Immigration Restriction Exemp- Act, 1888," apply to Members of the British House of Commons, ministers of religion, missionaries, native officers of the British Army, native teachers, tourists, merchants, men of science or students, and the wives and families of such persons, and also their domestic servants who are bearers of certificates of identity, specifying their occupa- tion and their object in coming into South Australia, or of other similar documents issued by the Government whose subjects they are. Every such certificate or other document shall be in the English language, and shall be examined and indorsed by a British consul or other accredited representative of the British Government at the place where the same is issued, or at the port or place of departure, and the above- mentioned Acts shall not prevent the landing of any of the officers or of the crew of any vessel during her stay in any port of South Australia, subject to such regulations ensuring the departure of all such officers and members of the crew with their ship, as the Governor in Council may prescribe.
I reserve this Act for the signification of Her Majesty's pleasure.

An Act to encourage the introduction of Indian Native Immigrants into the Northern Territory of the Province of South Australia.

Whereas by "The Northern Territory Indian Immigration Act, 1879," provision Preamble. was made for the introduction of Indian native labour into the Northern Territory of the Province of South Australia, and for the protection of Indian immigrant labourers: And whereas the said Act was reserved by His Excellency the Governor of the said province for the signification of Her Majesty the Queen's pleasure thereon: And whereas Her Majesty has not signified her pleasure with respect to the said Act, and it is expedient to make other provisions for the purposes aforesaid in lieu of the provisions contained in the said Act-Be it therefore enacted by the Governor of the said province, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly of the said province, in this present Parliament assembled, as follows:
1. This Act may be cited for all purposes as "The Northern Territory Indian Short title. Immigration Act, 1882.”
