IMPERIAL BUREAU OF ENTOMOLOGY.

REPORT OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE FINANCE SUB-COMMITTEE.

A MEETING of the Finance Sub-Committee was held at the Colonial Office on the 4th of February, 1915, to consider the question of financing the Bureau after 1915.

The contributions made to the Bureau are as follows:-

Of these contributions those guaranteed by the Imperial Treasury (£500). Canada (£500), Union of South Africa (£350), Australian Commonwealth (£200), Australian States (£300), New Zealand (£200), Newfoundland (£50), India (£500), Hong Kong (£50), Malay States (£100), Straits Settlements (£50), Ceylon (£100), Mauritius (£50), Seychelles (£25), and Fiji (£50), amounting in all to £3,025, will expire at the end of the current year.

An estimate of expenditure for the year 1916-17 was presented by the Director, from which it was clear that if these contributions are not renewed the Bureau will not be able to meet the expenditure necessary to carry on its work next year.

It was hoped that at the Conference of Official Entomologists, which has unfor- tunately had to be postponed, the question of placing the Bureau on a permanent
