With regard to the appointment of medical superintendent and tutor, this is a most im portant post, and the efficiency of the school largely depends on its obtaining a suitable man for it. He resides at the school and devotes his whole time to the work of the school. He is, in fact, the principal teacher and administrator. To discharge his duties properly, he must com- bine in himself large practical experience in tropical disease, teaching capacity, tact, and social qualities, which will make him acceptable to a large and very critical class of students, inany of whom may be his seniors in age and. professional rank, and, in addition to these qualities, he must possess a large measure of administrative ability.
The present salary of £325 is insufficient remuneration for a man possessing the qualities mentioned above, and it is proposed that the salary should be increased to £500 a year, with capitation fees.
