Through not having sent these goods by Registered Post they got lost and duplicate purchase had to be made involving at the same time expense in tele- graphing, &c.

These have proved to be very un- satisfactory when used and not up to the quality of those pre- viously supplied

Mr. Tooker considers "that had the articles been packed in saw dust, instead of straw and shavings they probably would not have been broken,"

The Treasurer reported: "this

delay is causing very great inconvenience, as it is found difficult, if not impossible, to furnish the Governinent with precise information as to the profit on the various shipments.

The Director of Public Works charac. terized the charge, as “equiva. lent to paying a fee to a phy- sician to select in a chemist's a bottle of Eno's Fruit Salt."

The Inspecting officers reported that "the damage was due to insufficient packing."
