seen that Mr. Chamberlain has decided that the course of study in tropical medicine, which newly appointed medical officers are required to take before proceeding to the Colonies, shall be attended either in Liverpool or in London, and not exclusively in London as heretofóre.
In view of this decision it has been necessary to alter the forms hitherto in use by this department on the appointment of medical officers, and I am to suggest, for Lord Lansdowne's consideration, that similar alterations should be made in the forms used by the Foreign Office when appointing medical officers to Protectorates in Africa.
Copies of the revised forms* used in this department are enclosed.
