I HAVE the bonour to forward herewith, for your Lordship's information, copy a Despatch which I have this day addressed to each of the Governors of the Australasian Colonies and to the Governor of the Cape of Good Hope inviting the appointment of delegates to represent the several Colonies at a Conference to be held in this city on the 21st June next, for the purpose of discussing the questions of trade relations and telegraphic communication between Canada and the Australasian Colonies.

I HAVE the honour to transmit to your Excellency herewith copy of an approved Minute of the Privy Council dealing with the question of promoting telegraphic communication and more extended trade relations between this Dominion and the Australasian Colonies.
Your Excellency will observe that with the purpose of discussing the necessary means to this end, it is proposed that a conference of delegates from the interested Colonies should be held at Ottawa on Thursday, the 21st day of June 1894, and I have the honour to request, in accordance with the recommendation of my Ministers, that your Excellency will appoint one or more delegates to represent the Colony under your Government at this conference.
