APPENDIX III.
Report on the International Conference of Phytopathology and Economic Entomology at Wageningen.
In accordance with instructions I agreed to represent the Imperial Bureau of Mycology at the Conference of Phytopathology and Economic Entomology held at Wageningen, Holland (24th June-2nd July, 1923), and I have now to report that I duly attended the Conference and was present at the various meetings and excur- sions. I attach a few pamphlets which I obtained during the Conference, but there was no printed matter of scientific value circulated which will not be published in a fuller and corrected form in the Official Report to be issued shortly. This will be obtainable from the Secretary, Mr. T. Schoevers, Phytopathological Service, Wageningen, Holland, priced at about 4s. 3d. As I was also the official represen- tative of Kew, my expenses were met by the Ministry of Agriculture, and there are no expenses chargeable to the Imperial Bureau of Mycology.
Throughout the Conférence I made a point of interviewing the representatives of those nations which the Director told me he was not already in contact with, and of putting before them the work of the Bureau, especially the publication of the Review of Applied Mycology. I was able to get into personal touch with repre- sentatives from Germany, Austria, Czecho-Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Latvia, Finland, Lithuania, Brazil and China (Russia was not represented). I attach a list* of names and addresses of the persons I interviewed and also the names of other persons and institutions likely to be interested. In every case the representatives expressed themselves as extemely desirous of obtaining the Review, and most willing to exchange it for any mycological publications their respective countries would be able to furnish. In most instances they freely admitted that their output of myco- logical work was small, and that they would benefit most by the exchange.
An account of the business proceedings, as well as of the scientific papers read at the Conference, will be found in the Report and need not be referred to here. One matter, however, should be mentioned, namely, that at the last meeting it was agreed to set up a permanent organization for the purpose of calling similar confer- ences in the future. It was decided to elect a committee, and it was agreed that the British Empire should be represented by two members. As representative of the British members of the Conference Mr. Fryer suggested that the Directors of the Imperial Bureaux of Entomology and Mycology should be consulted. Mr. Fryer has I believe since discussed the matter with Sir Daniel Hall, Chief Scientific Adviser of the Ministry of Agriculture. I would suggest, therefore, that the Bureau might care to ask Mr. Fryer to attend the next meeting of the Committee of Management.

IMPERIAL BUREAU OF MYCOLOGY.
REPORT BY MR. S. P. WILTSHIRE ON A VISIT TO THE WEST INDIES. (Received in Colonial Office 9th April, 1924.)
I LEFT London on 21st December, 1923, and arrived in Barbados on 4th January, 1924, in Trinidad on 5th January, left Trinidad on 19th, arrived Port Limon (Costa Rica) 24th, from whence I made a two-days' trip to San José, left Port Limon on 26th, arrived Kingston via Colon on 28th, left 2nd February, arrived Dominica on 15th, left on 28th, and arrived in London 12th March.
The objects of my visit were primarily to attend the Ninth Meeting of the West Indian Agricultural Conference in Jamaica, and, secondly, to visit Dominica in order to obtain information with regard to the withertip disease of limes about which the Bureau has been consulted. The means of communication between the West Indian islands is so meagre that it was impossible to reach Dominica on my way out to Jamaica, but I succeeded in doing so on the return journey.
