allied genera in the British tropics, there being at present much confusion between the species reported as a cause of damage in different parts of the Empire. Amongst the more interesting determinations made by the Bureau during the past few months are the identification of the omnivorous parasite, Sclerotium Rolfsii in India, the only previous eastern records being from the Dutch Indies, Japan, and the Philip- pines, and of the destructive "blast" disease of rice in Uganda, this being the first African record of this disease.

No. 69.
HALF-YEARLY REPORT OF THE DIRECTOR OF THE IMPERIAL BUREAU OF MYCOLOGY FOR THE PERIOD ENDING 30TH SEPTEM- BER, 1922.
Finance.-The Crown Agents' account on the 30th of September shows a total sum of £6,280 15s. standing to the credit of the Bureau. This shows a decrease on the unduly inflated account of last March. On the other hand, after making allow- ance for receipts and expenditure during the next six months, it is estimated that the Bureau will enter the new financial year with the very satisfactory reserve of nearly £6,200.
