THE RESIDENT COMMISSIONER to THE HIGH COMMISSIONER. (Received in Colonial Office, 9th July, 1915.) (No. 160.)

British Residency, Vila, 20th May, 1915. WITH reference to my despatch of the 12th of January last, I have the honour to state that a sum of £22 158. 6d. has been forwarded to me by the Rev. F. G. Bowie, of the Presbyterian Mission stationed on the Island of Tangoa, South Santo, which money, the reverend gentleman states, has been subscribed " very largely by the students in the institution, and by the people of Tangoa and of three Santo villages," whose names he does not mention. Mr. Bowie adds that the subscribers wish the money to be given to "the Belgian Fund," but he does not specify whether it is intended for the relief of the population remaining in Belgium or for the refugees in Great Britain and other countries.
