123 and 125, Cannon Street, London, E.C., 29th April, 1915.
I HAVE the honour to inform you that a New South Wales organization called the "Citizens' War Chest Fund" has sent to London three motor ambulances Those from completely fitted, and has instructed me to have three more built. Sydney have already arrived, and those being built will be ready about the middle of May.
It is the wish of the donors that the ambulances should be used with the Australian forces now operating in the East. I know of no means, however, by which these ambulances could be sent to the front, and I have thought that perhaps if you were to make representations to the War Department the ambulances might be accepted in England and carried to the East in one of the transports conveying troops or stores. I should therefore be glad if you would be so good as to cause such representations to be made and advise me of the result.
