4. 3.8. Genesee," -The Committee confirmed the charter of this vessel to Mr. George Bedforth, of the Aspley Dye Works Company, Huddersfield, for the carriage of logwood from St. Lucia, Belize, and Jamaica to Hull or Immingham.

5. 8.3. "Grahamland."-The Committee considered a letter which had been received from the Admiralty relative to the proposal to use this vessel for the conveyance of logwood from the West Indies on her return from British Columbia. It was decided that a copy of the Admiralty's letter should be sent to the Board of Trade.

With regard to the Port and Transit Executive Committee, referred to in the Admiralty's letter, the Secretary was instructed to write to that Committee informing them that the Oversea Prize Disposal Committee proposed in future to consult them whenever they had a vessel available for the carriage of cargo.

6. S.D. Chile." Mr. Evans undertook to inquire as to the terms on which the tugs which had been employed in connexion with the attempts to salve this vessel had been requisitioned.

8.8. “Marina.”—Having regard to the suggestion that this ship might be employed by the Government of Nigeria as a collier, the Committee decided that the charter to Messrs. Elder Dempster and Company, Limited, which was expiring

on 18th January, should not be renewed beyond the 18th April.

C

Steamships "Hamm and "Apolda."-The Committee considered the application which had been put forward by the Millar Timber and Trading Com- pany, on behalf of the Union of South Africa, for the use of these vessels for a further three voyages at least, for the carriage of sleepers from Australia to South Africa.

The Secretary was instructed to ascertain the terms on which the sleepers had been purchased by the Union Government, and to report as to the proposed conditions of the new charter party.
