24. Owing to the physical configuration of the parish and the difficulty in arranging for division into topographical areas, the parish is being attacked on a population basis.

25. Rather more than one-half of the population is expected to be operated on during the current quarter; and during the quarter ending 30th June the whole parish will probably be finished and a treatment and sanitary record effected.

28. The schools are used in the main as centres, around which districts are marked off and census is taken.

Six school teachers are employed as part-time assistants; one whole-time assistant is appointed to a district and one whole-time inspector has charge of a district, supervises the work of the others, and collects from and distributes to the assistants over the whole area.

27. The office of the field force is situated at the Court Room, St. David's, the use of which is granted (rent free) by the local Government. The office is as conve- niently situated and adaptable as could be arranged.

"

33. The parish of St. George can be conveniently divided into areas for exhaustive work. Convenient residence for staff and building suitable for laboratory are not to be had without erection. The headquarters at St. George's are used as the field laboratory, and the five schools, which are admirably adapted in situation to the population, are used in regular circuit for meeting and examining and lecturing to the people. Many of the people also prefer to come regularly to head office for their examination and treatment.

34. The head office is also open for examination and treatment as originally' decided, and the figures of work done indicate the patronage received from patients who come from every parish of the island, and who ereditably persist in the treatment. Since the commencement of the field work a certain amount of work pre- viously recorded against head office is now recorded against the respective field areas. It has been found necessary, to enable frequent visits to the Mount Moritz centre, to cease encouraging general treatment at headquarters, but in certain eventu- alities I am satisfied that the people can readily be attracted to head office for examination and treatment.
