2. I shall await your proposals for improving the sanitation of Castries and the outlying districts concurrently with the prosecution of the campaign.

V.-WORK NOT OTHERWISE ENUMERATED :— Domestic visitations in different parts of the island on general survey: visits of inspection as to sanitary convenience, etc.

Laboratory Work.-Pathological examinations for medical practitioners. Dispensing Microscopists and a special dispenser have been employed in compounding drugs in form suitable for distribution; the drugs are supplied by the Government.

Demonstrations and talks are regularly given at the head office. Various health leaflets are regularly distributed from office and at the locations.

Note. The actual working of locations in treatment covers only three weeks.

2. I shall await your proposals on the improvement of conditions in schools, and I shall be glad if you will furnish me, in due course, with your views as to the introduction of the legislation recommended by Dr. Macdonald in the concluding passages of his report.

I AM directed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt to inform you that in a letter to this Office the Assistant Director-General of the International Health Commission has stated that Dr. Howard, Director for the West Indies, visited Antigua, and studied closely the investigations you have made in ankylostomiasis. He is of opinion that your work was exceedingly thorough, was scientific in character, and represented one of the most valuable investigations that has been made in this field; and he commends your work generally in the highest terms.

Mr. Harcourt has noted with pleasure the high opinion that Dr. Howard has formed of your work in Antigua.

I AM directed by Mr. Secretary Harcourt to inform you that he has received from the Governor of the Windward Islands the revised estimates of expenditure for the current year in connexion with the ankylostomiasis campaign in St. Lucia, which formed the enclosure to Dr. Howard's letter of the 30th November‡ to the Administrator of the Colony.

2. Mr. Harcourt fully approves the revised budget, and is confident that the recent visit of Dr. Howard will ensure that the campaign in the Cul-de-Sac Valley is started on the lines which experience in British Guiana and elsewhere has shown to be so successful.
