4. I am to add that there is no intention of terminating the valuable work of the Bureau, and that before the end of the year 1916-17 the general position will be reconsidered and the Governments which have hitherto contributed to the upkeep of the Bureau will be asked to be good enough to renew their contributions for a further period.

I am, &c.,

HENRY LAMBERT,

for the Under-Secretary of State.

DR. BAGSHAWE, Director of the Bureau, also attended.

1. The minutes of the thirteenth meeting* were approved.

2. The second item on the agenda was the question of accepting the resigna- tion by Colonel King of the post of Sectional Editor. The Director stated, however, that Dr. King had now withdrawn his resignation.

3. The Agent's accounts for the half-year October, 1914, to March, 1915, were laid before the Committee. The Director gave figures showing that, owing, no doubt, to the war, the number of subscribers to the Tropical Diseases Bulletin had fallen from 357 in September, 1914, to 232 in March, 1915, and that in the same period the number of subscribers to the Tropical Veterinary Bulletin had fallen from 123 to 95.

4. The appointment of Dr. Ledingham as Sectional Editor for dysentery was approved.

MINUTES OF THE FIFTEENTH MEETING OF THE MANAGING COMMIT- TEE OF THE TROPICAL DISEASES BUREAU, Held at the COLONIAL.

1.

Office, at 4.30 P.M., ON TUESDAY, THE 26TH OF OCTOBER, 1915.

MR. READ, Chairman.

SIR DAVID BRUCE.

MR. BLECH.

Present:

DR. BAGSHAWE, Director, also attended.

The minutes of the fourteenth meeting were approved.

2. The agents' accounts for the half year April-September, 1915, were laid before the Committee. The Director pointed out that, as compared with the same period for 1914, the receipts had fallen by one-third and the number of subscribers by one-fifth. There were now 284 subscribers to the Tropical Diseases Bulletin and 115 to the Tropical Veterinary Bulletin. These figures were considered not unsatis- factory having regard to the war.

3. The Director stated that, in the absence of a substitute, he had carried on the work of the Bureau while away on holiday in parts of June and July. It had, however, been necessary to make two journeys from Bognor to London to deal with Bureau business which could not be dealt with by correspondence, and he had charged the sum expended, £1 1s. 4d., to the Bureau. Sanction was given to this course.

4. The Director stated that, in the absence of Dr. Andrew Balfour and Dr. Warrington Yorke on military service, the sections for which they were responsible were being undertaken by Dr. Wenyon and himself (Director) respectively.
