States, in reply to No. 56, that the contributions of the Colonies and Protectorates will be maintained for the next five years at rates not less than those hitherto received; en- closes copies of Nos. 30, 41, 45, and 54, and observes that Mr. Harcourt proposes to approach the Treasury in due course with a view to securing that the amount of the Imperial con- tribution shall not be reduced from the 81st March, 1917.
