SPECIAL COURSES OF INSTRUCTION IN ENTOMOLOGY IN 1915.
The following arrangements have been made for officers who wish to receive instruction during their leave :-
1. London School of Tropical Medicine.
Three weeks' course in medical entomology, commencing on 8th March, 21st
June, and 21st November.
2. Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Two weeks' course in medical entomology, commencing on 15th March, 14th
June, and 29th November.
3. Imperial College of Science and Technology, South Kensington.
Three weeks' course in agricultural entomology, commencing on 8th February,
3rd May, and 19th October.
4. Cambridge University.
Arrangements can be made at short notice for officers to receive informal instruction lasting for a few days. This, however, is not recommended unless an officer already possesses a sound knowledge of entomology and wishes to specialise in the study of ticks.
5. Edinburgh University.
Three to four weeks' course in medical entomology, commencing on 20th April
and 7th October.
The fees for officers attending any of these courses of instruction will be paid by the Government, and the officer will be allowed railway fare between his usual place of residence and the place of instruction at the beginning and end of the course, a "training allowance" of 5s. a day during the period of instruction, and, if he has had to sleep away from his usual place of residence, a " lodging allowance" of 2s. 6d. a night: all subject to his obtaining from the proper authorities at the end of the course a certificate to show that he has been regular in his attendance and has employed his time at the course satisfactorily.
Officers who obtain a satisfactory certificate at the end of a course will be granted an entomological outfit on their return to the Colony or Protec- torate in which they are serving.
