In connection with the scheme for hiring slides Sir Cecil Smith enquired whether it was the practice for schools to arrange beforehand for their lectures, as he under- stood was done in St, Paul's School. Sir John Struthers said that might be the case in private schools and in the large public schools; in Government schools there was usually a programme of geography lectures for which the lecturers had already a large quantity of illustrations, and the difficulty lay in inducing them to use the lectures and illustrations prepared by the Committee.

Sir Everard im Thurn suggested a short series of specimen lectures to be given to people interested in education, and thought that the Royal Geographical Society might be willing to give the use of a room for the purpose.

IN confirmation of the interview which Mr. Newton had with you yesterday, we understand that your suggestion is as follows:-

It is already arranged that we should hold one complete series of all the Visual Instruction Committee's sets in immediate readiness for sale or hire, and, in addition to this, that we should hold a duplicate set of all slides which we procure from the Diagram Company and Messrs.
