Humming bird, created-doctor bird.
Humming bird, green throated,

and establishes a close time for-
Wild pigeon or ramier,
Mountain dove or tourterelle,
Ground dove or Ortolan,
African.
Kingfisher,
Mistletoe bird-yellow breast, Mocking bird,
Molasses bird,
Pipperie-crested,
Pipperie-hawk beater,
Redbreast,
Redstart,
Soufrière bird,
Tick bird,
Trembleur.
Every other species of wild pigeon or dove,
Parrot, Quail.
EAST AFRICA Protectorate.-Ordinance No. 9 of 1903 gives power to protect any or all species of wild birds within any specified area.
UGANDA.-The Officer Administering the Government states that the following birds
are wholly protected and can only be obtained under a special licence to be obtained from the
Governor :-
Secretary bird,
Vulture (any species),
Owls (any species),
Whale-headed stork (Bakuenicepa vox),
Saddle-billed stork (Epphippiorhynous
senegalensis),
Crowned crane (Balearica), Ostrich (female and young).
NYASALAND. Under the Game Regulations, 1902, the following birds may not be killed, captured, or hunted except under special licence, nor may their plumage be exported-Vulture (any species), secretary bird, owl (any species), and rhinoceros bird (any species).
SOMALILAND.-By Regulation No. 2 of 1907, except under special licence, the vulture, secretary bird, owl, marabous, egrets, and greater bustards may not be hunted, killed, or captured, nor may their skins be exported.
NORTHERN NIGERIA. By Proclamations Nos. 4 of 1909 and 1 of 1910, it is unlawful to kill at any time, except by special licence and under close restrictions, the ostrich, ground horn-bill, secretary bird, vulture, owl, rhinoceros bird, egret, crowned crane, greater bustard and marabout stork. Partial protection is afforded to a number of game birds.
SIERRA LEONE.*-Ordinance No. 30 of 1901 empowers the Governor-in-Council to prohibit the hunting of the vulture, secretary bird, owl, and rhinoceros bird (buphaga), and also any other animals whose protection, whether owing to their rarity or threatened extermination, may be considered necessary, and permits partial protection to the ostrich, marabou, egret, bustard and game birds."
In the case of these Colonies there is no specific prohibition of exportation of skins or parts of birds protected.

BECHUANALAND.-Proclamation No. 2 of 1907 empowers the High Commissioner to define protected areas for any specified bird. The ostrich is protected by Proclamation No. 22 of 1904.
Miscellaneous.
FIJI. By Ordinance No. 2 of 1895, Revised Statutes, a close season is established for wild birds. Preserved areas may be proclaimed; and the Governor may by proclama- tion prohibit the capture or killing of any bird specified.
CYPRUS.-By Law No. 2 of 1906 it is unlawful to export the skins or eggs of any species of bird except with the permission of the High Commissioner. Law No. 4 of of 1909 establishes a close time for, and protects, the eggs of all birds, game or wild, except beccaficos, bee-eaters, doves, ravens, crows, jackdaws, magpies, hawks, and sparrows. FALKLAND ISLANDS.-By Ordinance No. 4 of 1908, a close season is established
for duck, grebe, nallard, snipe, swan, teal, and widgeou. By No. 7 of 1909, penguins may only be taken under licence.
ST. HELENA.*-By Ordinance No. 1 of 1894, no person may take or kill any wild
bird, except pheasants or partridges, except under licence specifying the bird. Ordinance 4
of 1908 establishes close seasons for all wild birds.
There does not appear to be legislation in
Hong Kong,
Antigua,
Montserrat,
British Honduras,
Southern Nigeria,
Gold Coast,
Gambia, Malta, Gibraltar, Labuan,
Solomon Islands,
Gilbert and Ellice Islands.
In the case of these Colonies there is no specific prohibition of exportation of skins or parts of birds protected.
